About the Company

Thistle is a mission-driven food-tech company helping people get and stay healthy while improving the sustainability of the food system. Founded in 2013, Thistle began with cold-pressed juices at farmers markets and has grown into a nationwide subscription platform delivering plant-forward meals, snacks, and juices directly to customers’ doors.

Behind the scenes, Thistle operates a complex, data-rich business spanning marketing, operations, logistics, culinary development, and customer experience. The company is remote-first, values work-life balance, and invests in building scalable systems that support long-term growth rather than short-term hacks.

The Role

Thistle is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer to help build and scale the company’s modern analytics foundation. This is a high-ownership role in a lean data organization, responsible for defining data models, strengthening infrastructure, and enabling trusted, self-serve analytics across the business.

You’ll act as both a technical leader and strategic partner to Product, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Leadership, shaping how data is defined, accessed, and used to drive decisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and evolve Thistle’s analytics infrastructure, ensuring scalable and reliable data models

  • Design and maintain core ELT pipelines and source-of-truth datasets

  • Partner cross-functionally to align on metrics, definitions, and data governance

  • Optimize data warehouse performance, workflows, and query efficiency

  • Champion best practices across the analytics stack (dbt, testing, documentation, version control)

  • Enable self-serve analytics through high-quality datasets, dashboards, and exploration tools

  • Serve as a technical thought partner to leaders, identifying opportunities where data can unlock business value

  • Help raise the bar on analytics engineering standards and data culture

Required Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or data architecture

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and strong experience with Python

  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining dbt-based ELT pipelines

  • Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift)

  • Strong data modeling and transformation skills

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders

  • High ownership mindset with comfort operating in a lean environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience in D2C, subscription, or consumer tech companies

  • Familiarity with AWS and orchestration tools like Airflow

  • Experience with data governance, quality frameworks, or performance tuning

  • Prior mentorship or informal leadership experience

  • Interest in health, sustainability, or food-tech

Culture & Values

  • High ownership and autonomy in a small, collaborative team

  • Strong bias toward execution and business impact

  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical partners

  • Commitment to work-life balance and sustainable pace

  • Mission-driven, inclusive culture

Compensation

  • Base salary: $151,000–$166,000

  • Employment type: Full-time, fully remote (US only)

  • Visa sponsorship: Not available
