*Job Overview*
We are seeking a *Market and Gleaning Support Staff Member* to help with our weekly farmers market stands and gleaning operations. This role involves setting up and breaking down our market stand, light prep, food processing, packaging, and assistance with sourcing surplus from farmers after market and with partner farms on their nearby farms. This position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment.
*Responsibilities*
* Assist in packing and organizing items for the market
* Set up and take down the weekly farmers market stands
* Wash dishes and clean up after the market
* Occasionally assist in operating the market stand, including customer service and sales
* Meet with farmers at end of each market to purchase surplus produce
* Help develop systems to prep and store produce efficiently and in alignment with food safety and sanitation standards
* Help with food prep, processing, and packaging as needed.
* Work to develop relationships with local farmers to purchase and/or arrange to pick their available crops if desired with teams of volunteers.
*Requirements: *
* Must have a *valid driver’s license* and reliable transportation
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor market settings
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently
* Positive attitude and commitment to inclusivity
* Experience a plus but not required - with farmers markets, food service, or customer service
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
