Schedule/Hours:Β Full-time, 40 hours per week; schedule may vary based on kitchen operations, community classes, and seasonal garden activities.
This position is responsible for:
Preparing, cooking, and serving meals safely and on schedule
Maintaining kitchen cleanliness, organization, and inventory
Leading and coordinating community garden activities
Incorporating garden produce into meals and educational programming
Teaching community classes on cooking, gardening, and nutrition
Plan menus, purchase food, and prepare meals for groups
Keep kitchen and dining areas clean, organized, and safe
Plant, cultivate, and harvest garden produce
Lead classes and demonstrations on healthy cooking and gardening
Supervise and mentor volunteers in kitchen and garden activities
Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, and squatting
Ability to cook, taste, and smell food
Work performed in kitchen and outdoor garden settings
Exposure to hot stoves/ovens, cold freezers, and outdoor weather conditions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent,
and
At least 2 years cooking for large groups in commercial, institutional, or community kitchens with at least 1 year experience in gardening, agriculture, nutrition, or community education and experience supervising, training volunteers preferred
or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Food Handler or ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
Valid driverβs license required
