NATURE OF WORK: This part-time position will support seasonal efforts to keep the community garden maintained, volunteers recruited and foods distributed. 


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Recruit, train and provide oversight to the community garden volunteers

  • Plan and prepare for the growing season

  • Coordinate purchases of supplies

  • Monitor safety at the garden and work with maintenance staff when necessary

  • Coordinate with community partners and individuals to plant, water and harvest

  • Coordinate with food bank staff for distribution

  • Other duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High school graduate or GED

  • Ability to supervise and manage program operations

  • Computer word processing, excel and accurate record keeping

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and accept responsibility as assigned

  • Ability to work well with others, to meet the public, and to render service cordially

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Enthusiasm for gardening and growing foods in the arctic

  • Responsible and proficient with reporting and strong organizational skills

  • Criminal background check required
