NATURE OF WORK: This part-time position will support seasonal efforts to keep the community garden maintained, volunteers recruited and foods distributed.Â
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruit, train and provide oversight to the community garden volunteers
Plan and prepare for the growing season
Coordinate purchases of supplies
Monitor safety at the garden and work with maintenance staff when necessary
Coordinate with community partners and individuals to plant, water and harvest
Coordinate with food bank staff for distribution
Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or GED
Ability to supervise and manage program operations
Computer word processing, excel and accurate record keeping
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and accept responsibility as assigned
Ability to work well with others, to meet the public, and to render service cordially

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Enthusiasm for gardening and growing foods in the arctic
Responsible and proficient with reporting and strong organizational skills
Criminal background check required
