Job Overview:
This position acts as clerk in the Public Safety Medical /First Aid section. Employees will be responsible for medical data entry/verification of entries, compiling and notification of incomplete or deficient entries. This position will be responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work space/desk and may assist with dispensing non prescription first aid items, i.e. band aids, hygiene products, sunscreen, etc. This position will assist with post fair event reports and results.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Assist in the organization, development and functioning of the San Diego County Fair which can include filing, lifting medical supplies (0-20lbs.), using a computer and printer, may drive a cart/vehicle, proof medical entries, answering phones.ยท Assists in the set-up, maintenance, and tear down of First Aid office.ยท Keeps abreast of information to answer questions and concerns with timely and knowledgably responses in person or on the phone.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested when needed.
- Interacts with patients and family members to maintain an orderly and safe environment in the First Aid area to ensure patients and guests have an enjoyable experience.
- General Clerking duties including but not limited to assisting with opening/answering e-mail, data entry and recording of medical data. Providing weekly and end-of fair summaries of patient visits and medical needs.
- Promotes the District's F.A.I.R. values by creating a quality guest experience for both internal and external customers.ย
Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service and ability to work cooperatively with team members and others.
- Follows oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of office procedures and office equipment including computers and applicable software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Basic medical knowledge/terminology preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Work is indoors and (rarely) outdoors.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality. HIPAA rules apply.
- Experience in medical/First Aid/trauma environment.
- Outdoor work may involve some exposure to weather conditions.
- Works a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
- May be exposed to extreme temperatures, medical trauma, irate patients/patrons, unpleasant medical scenarios.
- Moves objects at least 20 pounds.
- Exceptional attendance, punctuality, and dependability
- Ability to work independently or cooperatively in a group setting.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and be able to multi-task.
