Security Officer – Overnight Shift (7 PM – 7 AM) at Farmers Market


Join our team as a Security Officer responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment at our bustling farmers market during overnight hours. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the safety of vendors, visitors, and staff while working in a vibrant community setting. We are seeking a vigilant and professional individual committed to ensuring the security and smooth operation of our market during the overnight shift.


Key Responsibilities:

- Monitor the premises continuously to prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access

- Conduct regular patrols of the market area, both indoors and outdoors

- Respond promptly to security incidents or emergencies, including medical issues or safety hazards

- Enforce market policies and safety regulations with professionalism and courtesy

- Maintain detailed incident reports and communicate effectively with management

- Control access points and verify credentials of vendors and authorized personnel

- Collaborate with local law enforcement or emergency services as needed

- Ensure the safety of all market visitors, vendors, and staff during overnight hours


Skills and Qualifications:

- Previous security or law enforcement experience preferred

- Excellent observational and problem-solving skills

- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

- Ability to remain alert and attentive during overnight hours

- Basic knowledge of safety procedures and emergency response protocols

- Valid security guard license or certification as required by local regulations

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Reliable, responsible, and trustworthy with a professional demeanor

Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years of age. 
  • High School diploma or GED required. 
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment 
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only. 
  • Must successfully complete the UofL Health- Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness Training program.
