We are looking for someone to join our team of market staff, selling grass-fed dairy products at weekend farmers markets. This would be a fun job for someone who enjoys customer service and meeting new people! It’s also a great way to join the DC farmers market community and support the local food system.
About Us: Clear Spring Creamery is small, woman-owned, grass-based dairy farm near Clear Spring, MD. We sell milk, yogurt, and sometimes other dairy products at farmers markets in the DC area. We have a strong commitment to the well-being of our animals, our ecosystem, and our human communities and do our best to marry the practical requirements of running a business with our values.
Job Duties include:
- Unloading coolers of milk, yogurt, etc and other market supplies from our truck or van
- Setting up market stand and displays of product
- Selling various dairy products (milk, cream, butter, yogurt, cheese, eggs, etc)
- Communicating with customers and other market staff
- Breaking down market stand and re-loading truck or van for return home
All duties would be performed with assistance from another team member (with the exception of the Falls Church shift, where our stand is usually staffed with just one person).
Farmers Market shifts include:
- Saturday – Falls Church – 6:15 am to approximately 1:15 pm
- Saturday – Arlington Courthouse – 7:00 am to approximately 12:30 pm
- Sunday – Takoma Park – 8:15 am to approximately 1:30 pm
- Sunday – Dupont Circle – 7:45 am to approximately 2:00 pm
Currently, we are looking for s sub or floater that would work about 2 shifts per months and can ideally work multiple markets. We have a regular at each of our markets, but everyone needs a weekend off sometimes, so we are looking for someone who can help fill in when our regulars aren't available. The market schedule is prepared each month and distributed 2 weeks prior to the start of the month.
Qualifications:
- Reliable and on time
- Customer service skills
- Cleanliness, and respect for food hygiene and sanitation
- Physical ability to handle heavy coolers, folding tables, tents, etc.
- Willingness to work in all kinds of weather – the markets are outdoors and open all year
Compensation:
$20 / hour
