Compensation: $50,000 Salaried 0.8 FTE (32 hrs/week)

The Hollywood Farmers Market is looking for a dynamic Operations Manager (OM) with a strong desire to contribute to the success and growth of our local farmers and food makers, creating an inclusive and creative public space, and long-term community building. The OM is the on-site person in charge at the market. As the senior on-site person, the OM is responsible for preparing for the market each week, overseeing market setup and tear down, and ensuring that each market day runs smoothly. The OM directly interacts with vendors, shoppers, entertainment guests, volunteers, and site partners.

A successful Operations Manager is compassionate and kind, adaptable, decisive, and community-oriented. They have extensive experience in problem solving, are well-organized and flexible, and can think on their feet in a fast-paced environment. People in this role may have a varied background in food service, management, farming, event planning, or social services.

The Hollywood Farmers Market is a year-round market in all types of weather. Winter season market day hours are roughly 7 AM to 2 PM; the summer market day hours are roughly 6 AM to 2:30 PM. Hours outside of the market days are flexible. A general weekly schedule looks like one day at the market, one day in the office, and two days WFH.

* Punctual and reliable.

This position requires a valid driver’s license or an ability to do occasional market errands. Mileage reimbursement will be available. A valid food handler’s card and CPR training must be obtained within 2 months of hire.

The set-up and breakdown of the market involves lifting, moving, and assembling large tents as well as possibly assisting vendors or market guests with heavy lifting. The OM must be able to squat, reach, and spend long hours standing.

_Vendor Program_
* Respond to vendor inquiries and concerns
* Prepare the weekly vendor map
* Weekly vendor stall fee reconcile and bank deposit
* Write a weekly memo to the vendors with any relevant news and a link to the map
* Follow up with vendors who are non-compliant with the handbook, late cancellations, and other issues that may arise
* Schedule and attend Vendor Advisory Group meetings as needed. Share updates with ED & Operations Assistant Manager as needed
* Attend internal affairs meetings with the ED and board committee members
* Prepare the annual vendor application
* Work with the Executive Director on keeping stall spaces filled and in line with revenue goals
* Develop annual vendor survey with ED and compile data to make meaningful decisions for market planning

_Marketing/Communications_
* Work with the ED to coordinate the creation and distribution of marketing materials and posters to conduct pre-season and mid-season outreach
* Assist with social media as it pertains to market promotion
* Work with market staff and volunteers to take pictures for regular posts
* Keep website updated with market and vendor information, special events, and any other relevant happenings
* Keep market phone and answer customer and vendor inquiries in a timely manner

_Double Up Food Bucks/Token Program_
* Have a basic understanding of the market’s food accessibility and token programs
* Be able to set up and operate the token program equipment
* Support the information booth crew as needed
* Token counting and reconciliation over the winter, in collaboration with ED
* Assist shoppers with the purchase of tokens as needed.
* Assist ED with outreach at local housing and food access organizations to promote SNAP & DUFB at the market

_Entertainment_
* Schedule musicians
* Greet entertainment guests at the market; manage crew members to set up appropriate equipment
* Take notes of performances after market to keep track of who the market wants to invite back
* Provide payment to musicians and maintain a record of payments

_Community Tabling_
* Curate, procure, and schedule neighborhood non-profits for the community booth
* Coordinates with the market crew members to greet organization representatives at the start of market and ensure they have any needed supplies

_Site Management_
* Develop market site strategy with the Executive Director
* Oversee equipment set-up specific to guests’ needs (sound equipment for musicians, tables/chairs for community booths, etc.)
* Oversee site set-up and tear-down
* Reviewing site management receipts and checking for accuracy
* Prepare laminated market signs as needed
* Maintain, organize and neatly store equipment with support from the Operations Assistant Manager
* Maintain good working relationships with the site partners
* Office maintenance: contribute to support of a functional and clean working environment

_Staff Management_
* Keep staff on task on market days
* Assist with mid-year reviews by providing feedback on market employee performance
* Assist with hiring and training alongside ED

_Development_
* Attend trainings related to market operations, marketing, regulations, vendor resources, and other applicable topics
