FARMER MARKET SOURCING ASSOCIATE - SEASONAL

Salary Range: $18 to $25 per hour (DOE and state)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Gjelina Group strives to source a high percentage of fresh produce directly from local farmers and ranchers. We shop at several farmers markets over the course of a week to order all our items in advance, pick them up at farmers markets and then distribute them to the restaurants in our group. Our relationships with our growers/producers are paramount, the most important responsibility of our farmers market staff is to conduct themselves as representatives of our restaurant group and respect those relationships. This is an unusual restaurant job. It's an opportunity to be mostly outside, to interact with many different people, to learn about California produce. It's both intellectual and physical.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned):

• Report for duty on time and ensure you use the time clock to check in and out.
• Manage your time, including taking rest and meal breaks in compliance with California Labor Law.
• Maintain high standards of appearance and hygiene that include clean clothes, nails and hair and no heavy perfumes/colognes.
• Checking accuracy when picking up orders at the market
• Keep track of "shorts" on items as they pick up and communicate to the buyer
• Labeling all boxes appropriately before they are picked up
• Packing the truck neatly, safely and in a highly organized manner
• Driving, loading, and unloading safely
• Delivering accurately and with respects to the produce and restaurant staff
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.

• Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated, and organized
• Previous restaurant experience
• Valid driver's license
• Clean driving record, ability, and willingness to drive a sprinter or a small box truck
• Schedule open to work Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings from 6 am to 2:30 pm.
• Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to take direction
• Ability to work in a team environment
• HS diploma required; preferred, but not required.

• Must be able to follow all safety, health, and sanitation procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, this position regularly required you to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time. Able to drive a motor vehicle. Ability to: regularly lift, carry, and/or move up to 35 pounds; frequently lift, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds; Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, grasping, pinching, smelling, reaching/lifting above shoulders in a repetitive manner; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Able to climb in and out of vans multiple times per day. Able to walk up and down stairs as necessary.
