Description

 

The Community Markets Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, and operational execution of MANNA FoodBank’s Community Markets. This role manages the logistics required for successful markets, including truck loading, equipment tracking, and on-site market setup. This role acts as the primary safety lead for markets, providing volunteer training, enforcing food safety guidelines, and coordinating equipment maintenance and transportation needs. Operating with broad program goals, this position uses independent discretion to ensure smooth distribution operations and cross-functional coordination with warehouse, facilities, and inventory teams. 

Market Planning & Execution 

  • Organizes and maintains equipment to support markets, including pallet jacks, tables, carts, fliers, and general market resources. Loads equipment for markets in time for set up. 
  • Independently coordinates pre-distribution planning with site partners, ensuring all logistical needs, safety requirements, and equipment allocations are met. 
  • Sometimes acts as an on-site lead for market logistics, resolving in-the-moment operational challenges and serving as safety point-of-contact. 
  • Uses discretion to manage route timing, truck space, and loading configurations based on changing market needs and capacity. 

 

Safety Leadership & Volunteer Training 

  • Assists with market safety strategy and training; develops and delivers standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to equipment handling safety and product storage. 
  • Serves as MANNA’s on-site representative for food safety, DOT compliance (non-CDL), and volunteer engagement when working at distributions. 
  • Provides direct coaching and ongoing support to volunteer drivers in pallet jack usage, distribution setup, and market flow.
     

Cross-Departmental Coordination 

  • Collaborates with Yard Marshal to ensure efficient dock usage; works closely with Operations to maintain truck and equipment readiness. 
  • Acts as a liaison with the Inventory Coordinator to reallocate returned product and ensure accurate post-market reconciliation. 
  • Monitors supply levels for food packaging materials and coordinates timely restocking. 
  • Assists in the daily implementation and practice of AIB standards in order to ensure food safety and good sanitation practices throughout MANNA Foodbank. 

Program Operations & Documentation 

  • Maintains accurate mileage, maintenance, and vehicle inspection logs to ensure that vehicles are in safe, dependable operating condition.
  • Supports program documentation efforts by updating SOPs, submitting incident reports, and assisting with inventory audits. 
  • Analyzes recurring market issues and proposes improvements to equipment allocation, loading practices, or market setup.
     
Requirements

 

Qualifications Summary 

  • High school diploma or GED required; 2–4 years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, food safety, or nonprofit field services strongly preferred. 
  • Demonstrated experience in independently planning or managing logistics in a fast-paced or mobile work environment. 
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to represent MANNA’s safety and equity values with volunteers and partners. 
  • Comfortable with physical labor, truck driving (non-CDL), and engaging in both indoor and outdoor work conditions year-round.
     

Additional Skills:  

  • Spanish language skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak Spanish at a conversational level, is a plus. 
  • Experience with warehouse equipment and driving box trucks. 
  • A desire to educate and inspire others in the mission of MANNA FoodBank. 
  • Knowledge of food bank operations a plus. 

Working Conditions: Work will be performed in a typical warehouse environment as well as at community sites with occasional exposure to office environments. The employee is regularly required to work in outdoor conditions; and extreme temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
