The Community Marketing Manager will lead retail- and community-focused marketing initiatives across Japan. This role is responsible for building long-term engagement with core users through community outreach, sponsorships, events, and partnerships. The position works closely with retail stores, business partners, and internal marketing teams to strengthen brand awareness and foster deep connections within the local outdoor community.
The ideal candidate is energetic, entrepreneurial, and deeply involved in outdoor sports, with a passion for delivering compelling brand experiences and activating communities at a local level.
Develop and execute localized community marketing strategies aligned with Japan market objectives and global brand direction
Build and maintain strong relationships with sports organizations, clubs, training facilities, athletes, guides, and retail partners
Recruit, manage, and support store-based brand ambassadors
Plan and execute in-store and local community events in line with the annual brand calendar
Collaborate with retail teams and B2B partners to activate seasonal community initiatives
Coordinate with store and area managers to deliver consistent and engaging community programs
Track and report on community engagement and event performance on a monthly basis
Create regular opportunities for store staff to participate in brand-related sports activities
Manage the annual community marketing budget and ensure effective allocation of resources
Minimum 3 years of experience in community marketing or retail operations within the outdoor, sports, or lifestyle industry
Strong personal involvement and hands-on experience in outdoor activities such as climbing, trail running, or snow sports
Established network within relevant clubs, gyms, or sports associations in Japan
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills
Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive, flexible mindset
Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across cross-functional teams
Experience in project coordination and execution
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing or a related field
Solid understanding of the Japanese retail environment and outdoor/sports goods market
Japanese: Fluent
English: Business level
